My rating: 5/5
This app/website is an amazing tool
for Spanish learners and language teachers.
While the website is free, there are many features you can’t access
unless you subscribe to and pay for the website. For a family the subscription
costs $99 a year, and for a school even more, ranging from $545-$1500 a
year. Consider though, that once the
school subscribes tthe app is available to all of the students within that
school.
The more general website Brain Pop,
has a specific Spanish Brain Pop, where students can learn about various
subjects such as how to read a newspaper, efficiently read a book, prepare for
an exam, and write in Spanish. The
format is very student friendly. The
graphics are very cute and appealing to the eye, and each topic you enter shows
a short and sweet video clip, entertaining and educational for students. When learning the importance of reading
newspaper articles for current events, this website would be great to introduce
the subject and to show the kids an introductory video. The fun graphics of the video entertain while
it educates the children in Spanish, the importance and relevance of reading
the newspapers for information.
The website also offers a separate
teacher section where teachers can compare notes, view lesson plans, and see
how subjects correlate to the curriculum.
This website is a wonderful reference tool for students and teachers,
though whether the website is worth the yearly subscription price is left to
the teacher and school’s discretion.
